I want to volunteer at RPS. What should I do?
Sign up for and attend a Volunteer Orientation. You can find them on our web calendar. You can also e-mail our volunteer coordinator (volunteer_[at]_rpscollective_[dot]_ com) with questions.
Volunteer orientations last approximately 30 minutes. They are a chance for you to learn about RPS, what we do, what volunteers do and how you specifically can be involved. At the end of an orientation, you will be assigned a training shift or other task or project.
What’s the difference? Well, for starters, volunteers don’t have to attend every single meeting we have. And volunteers can choose how much they want to help out. You could work in the store once a week, help catalog the zine library once a month, or coordinate a fundraiser. Whatever you want (well, almost whatever you want.)
Members are volunteers who have extra responsibilities. They are required to head one committee or be a part of at least two, work a weekly shift in the store, and participate in RPS events. Volunteers can become members if they volunteer for at least six months, complete a project with the supervision of an existing member, and become active in committees (either heading one or participating in two).
